Back To Work

Today I go back to work. It isn't work like you would think of manual labor or sitting at a desk all day watching the clock, but it is still work. I think the hardest part is dealing with another person's anxiety.
Although Libby does not have Alzheimers she has some anxiety and sometimes is disoriented. It is understandable at 87 years of age and having moved from your home of many years to a new home. But anxiety seems to encourage more anxiety and we have to keep making sure everything is alright and taken care of.
And the dog. When I heard they had adopted a dog I thought, "Oh no." Her last dog was finally put to sleep with its incurable medical problems so they adopted another dog. This little dog will not walk on a leash; will not come out from under the bed; barks at night and disturbs the neighbors; and scratches itself a lot.
I have been in love with various dogs in my lifetime but doubt I will fall for this one. But I couldn't let them know how I feel because they would think I had a hard heart!

  1. I think there is a lot of mental fatigue involved in the care of another. I understand how you are feeling.
This new dog sounds like more of a problem than a help. I hope she/he stops barking and comes out from hiding sometime soon. It will make your job a little easier.
    Take care.
